The diagram on the left explains the two legs of Heartbeat.

1. Our own projects and services in the community

2. Our assistance to existing organisations, by means of Mentoring & Training.

Our assistance to existing organisations, by means of Mentoring & Training. If you are interested for more information on Heartbeat’s Mentoring & Training Programme please contact Phetole Seodi at phetole@heartbeat.org.za.

Heartbeat has designed a recognised Model of Care for OVC. It has also developed a Mentoring & Training Programme to extend its reach to more children by empowering existing organisations (e.g. Community Based Organisations and Faith Based Organisations) to implement Heartbeat services. The “Mentoring & Training Programme” is currently in the final stages of accreditation with the South African National Training Authority. The programme comprises course work, internships and practical implementation. Upon graduation the participant organisation will have a fully operational OVC response in its community. The training focuses on the principles guiding the Heartbeat model. The training allows participants the flexibility to adapt the model for use in their own organisational context and community, according to their own culture and indigenous knowledge.  Throughout the training process, a Heartbeat-appointed mentor assists and supervises the trainees to ensure that the practical implementation runs smoothly.
